Chunky Cable Throw
This pattern is knit with two strands at a time. I used 2 different colors in each stripe for a heathered effect. You knit with both strands as if you are knitting with one. This makes the pattern knit up faster, and it appears that you have a bulkier yarn than you actually do. The gauge is based off of the two strands knit together.
CO loosely 119 with your two strands as one. Work in k1, p1 ribbing for 7 rows. Start chart, working k1, p1 ribbing for 10 stitches at the beginning of each row, to continue edge.
I slipped the first stitch of the beginning of each new row, to give the blanket a cleaner edge.
To finish, work another 7 rows of k1, p1 ribbing, and bind off loosely. I didn’t really stop at a certain part in the chart, just when I figured I only had enough yarn for the edge.
The finished throw measures roughly 3’x5’, making it an excellent lap blanket.
I came up with the pattern based on the small amount of this yarn I had, so it’s fairly easily adaptable to add another cable or two, to make a bigger blanket.
