This is an easy pattern to follow. Must be able to knit basic cables. You can use regular acrylic yarn or chunky yarn comparable to Lion Brand Wool Ease Chunky (instructions included for both types of yarn). If using chunky yarn and not adding a brim, you will only need 1 ball of Wool Ease chunky.
