Chunky Celtic Cross cable afghan
This pattern is for a crocheted afghan that forms the shape of a celtic cross. The yarn is good value and produces a nice warm throw.
There are cable patterns on either side of the throw and the cross is also made of cables, but the middle section is plain crochet (one row tr/dc, one row htr/hdc).
I did not put a gauge because what I would recommend is that you practice the side panels and cross before you start and check that it is sitting right alongside the plain crochet.
You will need at least 2300 yards of yarn (15 100g balls) to make a blanket approximately 135cm long and 128cm wide - you can make it longer by increasing the rows either side of the cross. You need a 6mm hook too.
Please let me know if you have any difficulties with the pattern. You will need to know how to do a front post and back post stitch, but otherwise I think it is fairly easy to pick up.

ROW 20 should read: “Continue in side panel pattern for first 33 st. 24dc. 3fpdc, 6dc…”
