A chunky, diamond lace stitch baby blanket, that is quick and easy to knit. The pattern is ideal for advanced beginners to intermediate knitting ability. The blanket is knitted in one piece with a moss stitch border.
The pattern comes with instructions for three sizes: Small 65 x 80 cm (25.5 x 31.5 inches), Medium 82 x 88 cm (32.25 x 34.5 inches), Large 91 x 102 cm (36 x 40 inches).
Skills required: cast on, bind off, knit and purl, knit two stitches together, slip a stitch and pass the slipped stitch over.
The pattern has written instructions only so the ability to follow written instructions is required.
I have used James C Brett’s Flutterby Chunky yarn, (S - 2 balls, M - 3 balls & L - 4 balls). This chenille yarn gives a beautifully cosy, light weight blanket that is machine washable.
Other chunky yarns can be used as long as the required tension is achieved.
The recommended needle size is 5 mm (8 US) I use circular needles (knitting back and forth) for ease of knitting due to the amount of stitches.
