ABOUT PATTERN
The Chunky Easy Beanie is perfect for knitting beginners, making it an ideal choice for your first project.
It is worked in garter stitch back and forth on either straight or circular needles. Start your work with a long tail cast-on then continue
back and forth until you reach the end. Finally, sew the side edges together and finish by creating a seam on the top of the hat.
SIZE AND MEASURMENTS
The instructions are given for an adult size (56-59 cm head circumference). You can easily adjust the beanie size by knitting fewer
rows (if your head circumference is smaller) or more rows (if your head circumference is larger) than the specified measurements.
NOTE: The thick yarn tends to loosen after a few wears, so it’s recommended to knit the beanie a bit snug to prevent excessive
stretching with repeated use.
Lenght: 29 cm
Width: 23.5 cm
YARNS AND MATERIALS
Approx. 120 g of leftover yarns.
For the Chunky Easy Beanie in the photos above, the following yarns were used:
Crazy Sexy Wool from Wool and The Gang - Alpachino Merino from Wool and The Gang (double stranding) - Hip Wool from
HipknitShop (double stranding) - Woohoo from Lana Grossa (double stranding) - Wow! Fluffy from Katia Yarns (double stranding)
NOTE: In this pattern, different yarn thicknesses are used. To achieve approximately the same thickness, I occasionally knitted with
two strands held together and at other times with a single strand.
Straight of circular needles 10 mm 60 or 80 cm
Tapestry needle
GAUGE
8 sts x 16 rows = 10 x 10 cm in Garter Stitch on needle size 10 mm.
Make a swatch to achieve the same gauge as indicated above. Needle size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on
10 cm = 4”, change to a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm = 4”, change to a smaller needle size.
