Please note: I am not a professional pattern writer or expert crocheter! I taught myself to crochet using YouTube videos around Thanksgiving of 2013. I just want to share this pattern because of some positive comments and “how’d you do it” feedback. I welcome your constructive, respectful criticism! <3

Chain 4, slip stitch to first chain
Round 1: Chain 3, 12 double crochet into circle, slip stitch into first (not the chain 3)
Round 2: Chain 3, 2 DC into same stitch, 1 DC, 2 DC, 1 DC, repeat to end and slip stitch into first stitch (not the chain 3)
Round 3: Chain 3, 2 DC into same stitch, 1 DC, 1 DC, repeat to end and slip stitch into first stitch (not the chain 3)
Round 4: Chain 3, 2 DC into same stitch, 1 DC, 1 DC, 1 DC, repeat to end and slip stitch into first stitch (not the chain 3)
I stopped here, but for a larger hat, add another row (2 DC, 1 DC, 1 DC, 1 DC, 1DC, repeat to end and proceed as above)
Round 5: Chain 3, DC into same stitch, chain 1, skip a stitch, 1 DC into next stitch, repeat to end and slip stitch into first stitch (not the chain 3)
Round 6: Chain 3, DC into chain space, chain 1, DC into chain space, chain 1, repeat to end
repeat rounds 5 and 6 until desired length, slip stitch, bind off, and weave in ends

I used one repeat of rounds 5-6 and added two rounds of double crochet for stability in the brim and to match my Chunky Half-Double Crochet Cowl I also added the large button embellishment to coordinate with the Chunky Half-Double Crochet Cowl

This hat worked up quickly, maybe in two hours or so. I’m not sure since I didn’t work on it from start to finish.
