Chunky Rib Dangling Leaves Cowl
A soft, warm and easy to wear cowl is almost a necessity in the northern hemisphere in the winter. Here in upstate New York, temperatures can get well below zero, without counting the wind chill. This cowl is an easy knit project that will provide warmth with a bit of style. So if you are out on the slopes skiing or just out for a brisk walk, knit up this fun cowl to keep the cold at bay.
The possibilities for design elements are endless by adding beads, buttons or color changes. Or simply knit the basic design without the leaves for a manly version.
Finished project measures approximately 18 inches in circumference on the top and 6 inches wide.
Gauge is not critical but should be at least 4 to 4.5 stitches to the inch working slipped ribbed pattern.
Cowl is worked in the round starting at the top working down on circular needles. The leaves are knit using i-cord on double pointed needles.
Materials:
2.5 ounces of worsted weight yarn (held double when knitting cowl, held single when knitting leaves)
US Size 13 19 inch circular needle
US Size 7 double pointed needles (3)
Stitch Marker
Tapestry Needle
Buttons or Beads for design elements as desired
