“Chunky X Ponytail Hat” is a thick and quick ponytail or messy bun hat. This pattern includes a variation of the well-known crochet X-stitch along with a photo tutorial.

There is a certain amount of charm about this type of hat that makes it quite casual and trendy. That is why Messy Bun hats can never go out of style.

My tween daughter has long hair which she sometimes ties into a bun and sometimes into a ponytail. So I made this hat where her hair bun and ponytail can both look cool. Also, I’ve always wanted to design this style of hat. So, I got a perfect excuse to design one for you all.

You will need approximately 60- 125 yards of super bulky weight yarn depending on the size of hat you make.

I Used:
Rowan Big Wool(100% Merino Wool; 87 yds80m/3.53 oz 100 g; CYCA # 6): #41, 1(2) balls.

Crochet Hook Size:
7.5mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.
