Church Street Cowl
Available in Spanish & English
This colorwork cowl is inspired by antique stained glass church windows. Made using DK weight yarn, tying the tones from the last months of Winter with the beginning of Spring. It’s knitted in the round beginning with a provisional cast-on and graft together using the Kitchener stitch.
Size & Finished Measurements
This item is one size. The finished measurements are: Circumference 36”/92cm - Height 7”/18cm.
Yarn & Quantity
I used DK weight yarn in 3 different solid high contrasting colors. Please keep in mind that if you choose to use a speckled or variegated yarn you run the risk of losing some definition on the colorwork. I used a total of 70 grams / 158 yards / 145 meters of each color.
Needles
I used US7 / 4.5mm - 16”/40cm circular needles. You will need an extra set of the same size needles to place on the cast-on edge for when we do the kitchener.
Gauge
Swatching is highly recommended for this project.
Gauge: 20 stitches & 26 rows = 4”/10cm
Notions
Extra set of main needles, 1 stitch marker, 1 tapestry needle, 2 progress keepers or bulb pins, measuring tape, waste yarn, and scissors.
