I never trust the weather report. No matter how favorable the forecast might be, I like to take a little something warm with me—just in case. There’s nothing worse than leaving the house in short sleeves and realizing (too late) that you needed more. I chose a traditional “feather and fan” lacework and paired it with tweedy superwash wool for a contemporary mash-up of old and new styles. Cider Press is knit at a relatively loose gauge to create an airy, lightweight fabric, making it perfect for those early autumn months when the weather can’t make up its mind.

Knit side to side from the smallest point to the longest wave panel, Cider Press is worked with staggered increases along one edge. The result is a shape somewhere between an elongated triangle and a boomerang. The placement of the lace extends the shape and adds visual interest and drape.
