Cinch Cowl - a cozy cinched cowl that’s a cinch to knit! It can be cinched up tight for cold days or left uncinched and worn as a loose cowl.

This cowl is worked in the round and is a great project to take with you in a handbag. It’s an ideal pattern for beginning knitters. Advanced knitters who want a break from complicated patterns will also enjoy it. The cowl is comprised of repetitive sections of purl rows in the round and knit rows in the round. One row requires yarn-overs to create button holes for an I-cord. I like using an Embellish Knit (a spool knitter that has a crank to make an I-cord in a few minutes) to make the I-cord needed for this pattern. Alternatively, a ribbon could be used to cinch this cowl. When placed on a flat surface, the finished cowl measures 16”-17” x 12” (see photos). However due to its alternating knit and purl rounds, it can stretch much longer than 16”-17”.
