This motif is based on the Cinco de Mayo rose. It is relatively small, but easy to increase in size to match the size of the rose. You need a stiff thread - I used embroidery floss. Flimsy thread will produce a limp flower.
Two colors are best: 1 for the petals and 1 for the center.
