The yarn you use for this pattern is not really important, but your hook size will vary depending on the yarn you choose.
My finished doll is about 16” tall and I use worsted weight yarn (#4, Vanna’s Choice, Red Heart Soft) and a 4.5mm hook

You can use a finer yarn and smaller hook to make a smaller finished doll.
