Design
This design is a 2-color, bulkier version of my Cindersmoke Shawl design from early 2016.

Like wrapping yourself up in a cozy blanket! Cindersmoke is constructed with simple, clean lines and transitions between double moss stitch and 1x1 rib. The center increases sandwich a long chain of slipped stitches. Knit with one strand of Super Bulky (5-6 wpi) weight yarn held together with one strand of Lace weight Mohair, to create a plump and squishy fabric with a heavenly halo. This is the perfect project for a beginner knitter who wants to explore textured patterns and easy increases.
Note: If you want to omit the Mohair, you can just use a single strand of Super Bulky (5-6 wpi) weight yarn to make gauge.

Skills Required
Basic 1x1 ribbing, double moss stitch and the easiest of increases, yarn-overs. The center spine stitch of this shawl is slipped on every RS row. So special care is needed when working the bordering yarn-overs.

  • The pattern is written with row-for-row instructions. There is no chart.

  • Working on a larger needle with a strand of bulky yarn and a strand of mohair, held together. This can be tricky, so you’ll want to have nice sharp tips on your needles.

  • Adding the tassels is completely optional but I must tell you that tassels made with mohair is life-altering!
