The “CINDY LOU” hat - a fun holiday stocking cap
A cabled rib adds texture to the brim of this simple stockinette stitch hat. The colorful polka dots are knit separately and sewn on afterwards. A trio of crocheted balls dangles from the top.
THE BASICS
• Pattern includes 6 sizes: Newborn / 3-6 months / 6-12 months / Toddler / Child / Adult
• Pattern is written in ENGLISH and uses standard U.S. knitting terms
• Instructions are for knitting in the round on circular and double pointed needles
• Gauge: 20 stitches = 4 inches (10 cm)
• Knitting skill level - INTERMEDIATE
• Balls at top are done in crochet
SKILLS YOU’LL NEED
• Knitting in the round
• Basic increases and decreases
• Knitting I-cord
• Basic crochet stitches (chain, slip, single crochet)
SUPPLIES YOU’LL NEED
• Approx. 100 - 200 yds (91 - 183 m) DK or light-worsted weight yarn for hat depending on size made
• Approx. 10 - 20 yds (9 - 18 m) DK or light-worsted weight yarn in 4 contrasting colors for dots
• U.S. size 6 (4 mm) 12” or 16” circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge
• U.S. size 6 (4 mm) double pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge
• U.S. size E (3.5 mm) crochet hook for balls at top
• Stitch markers
• Yarn needle
