A simple, cozy mini skirt perfect for layering over tights in cold weather (or on its own with a t-shirt and sneakers when it’s warm). I wanted a knitted skirt that wasn’t form fitting around the hips and just couldn’t find the right pattern. Named the Cine Skirt because, thanks to long stretches of stockinette rounds and easy-to-keep-track-of increases and decreases, it is the perfect project to work on while watching a movie at home.

Choose Your Size
This pattern was designed to be worn with 3” or 7.6 cm of ease at the waist. Use these charts to choose your size. If you fall in between sizes, choose the size with the body waist measurement closest to your actual waist measurement and consult the finished measurements chart to be sure the garment hip measurement also works for you. Then, cut your elastic to 1” or 2.5 cm shorter than your waist measurement. For example, if you have a 27.5” waist and a 39” hip, choose size 2 (the garment finishes with a 30” waist and 41” hip), and cut your elastic to 26.5” long (which means your waist will finish two inches smaller than your waist measurement at 25.5”).

Yarn Type and Consumption
I used a sport weight chainette cotton from the shop Natural Recycled Yarn on Etsy. You can use any sport weight yarn with which you can achieve the proper gauge. It should have a little substance to it, but still have good drape. See the chart located here for yarn consumption figures.

Gauge
7 stitches x 9 rows = 1” x 1” in stockinette stitch
One gauge swatch of 7” x 7”/17.8 cm x 17.8 cm (49 stitches and 63 rows) OR 5” x 5”/12.7 cm x 12.7 cm (35 stitches and 45 rows) is allowed for in the yarn consumption figures and can be used as a patch pocket on the skirt if you like. You can choose whichever you like for a larger or smaller pocket.
