Cinnamon Spice Cardigan
So as we all know, crochet really compliments feminine designs with all the lacey stitches and patterns. Because of this, my daughter has a full wardrobe of yarnie goodness that brings her ohh’s and ahh’s wherever she goes.
But what does one do when one has a boy child? I didn’t want people telling my daughter how lucky she was for her handmade digs while my son sits there dejected sporting a sweatshirt from Target! Think of what that might do to his self esteem! One day he could turn into a serial killer or jerk who never returns his shopping cart and his therapist will trace it all back to ME not making him enough crochet clothing while his sister got lavished! No way! Not on my watch!
So basically, what I am telling you is, I designed this cardigan so my son can wear something crochet and boyish and not grow up to kick puppies. Don’t judge me.
What you need to know about this pattern….it barely uses ANY basic stitches. Again, my goal was to create a more masculine ‘look’ so all the stitches are extended versions or post stitches. I do include directions on how to make all the weird stitches and can even link you to videos if you get stuck. (PM me! I’m nice!) And honestly, it’s not as hard as it looks once you get cooking.
You’ll also need 4-5 buttons to complete this cardigan and a cool little boy to do it justice. And if those cool little boys grow up to be world class scientists or surgeons based on the way their self esteem just SOARED after receiving this? Call it a bonus.
I do have an adult version of this. It’s called ‘Celery Seed,’ if you’re interested!
