Cinnamony Mitts
These mitts are the companion to Cinnamony Hat
I designed these mitts as a challenge to come up with a new pattern with candy as a theme. I love cinnamon candy of all kinds – it’s hot and spicy and delicious – and so are these mitts. They start with a cabled cuff that is grafted together in pattern. Stitches are picked up along the edge and then the main body of the hand is knit in the round – with little knot stitches reminiscent of cinnamon Red Hots™. The mitt is finished with a modified rib featuring the knot stitch. I used the wonderfully soft Malabrigo Silky Merino in the perfect red, Ravelry Red. Choose your favorite DK yarn in a semi-solid or solid color for best results.
The pattern includes charted instructions for the cabled cuff as well as line by line written instructions. Unusual stitches and cables used are described in detail, including how to cable with or without a cable needle.
The knitter needs to know how to do the following (explicit instructions are not included):
Provisional Cast On
Knit
Purl
Slip
Increase using Make 1 Left, Make 1 Right, and Knit Front and Back
Kitchener Stitch
Pick up stitches
Bind Off
As always, if you have any trouble, please let me know! Thank you to my wonderful testers elisabit, knititkim, knottednoose, jkaye, and JamieLouise. and my tech editor, Amanda KettleAndString. Your input and help was invaluable!
