Circe's Loafers
I love the mid-century modern “Atomic Cat” motif so I incorporated it into this easy to work slipper design, in honor of our cat, Circe!
The cuff and instep are worked with a single strand of yarn (in 2 contrasting colors), while the Stockinette stitch sides and twisted-rib bottom of the slipper are worked with 2 strands. The slipper is closed at the heel using Kitchener Stitch, and the cuff is folded down and stitched to the inside.
The result is a comfy, warm slipper, perfect for cozy evenings at home!
There are 2 charts provided for each size, a left and a right. The only difference between them is the mirroring of the instep image (no difference in toe shaping).
Specified yarn is Knit Picks’ Wool Woolen Cotton, a wonderfully soft yet durable yarn, available in a variety of colors and in a Bare format.
If you’re interested in a more traditional cat slipper design…Circe’s sister, Mala, has a cat slipper design, too!
