From the pattern description: Traveling stitch cables define inter-connected circles, and remind us of the friendships that abound through our knitting. Pattern includes stitch variations for yarn in either variegated or solid colors.

Instructions are given for making the twisted stitch traveling cables either with or without a cable needle. The method without a cable needle can be applied to making any cables in general without a cable needle.
