This is a basic hat, knit in the round with a simple charted heart design. Sizes run from baby to adult large. When choosing a size to knit, you want the finished hat measurement to be about 1-2 inches smaller than the actual head circumference for a good fit. Instructions for several different cuffs are included in the pattern. Using a worsted weight yarn at a gauge of 5 stitches to the inch produces a relatively quick knit. One 100-gm skein of your main color is enough for one hat and only a small amount of yarn for the heart pattern, so suitable for left over yarn from other projects.

We designed the original hat for our shop window in the colors of the Ukrainian flag at the start of the Russian invasion to show our support for the Ukrainian people. We then decided to expand our color selection and managed to get two hats in the smaller sizes from two skeins of yarn with the colors reversed.
