Circular (not) Cabled Capelet
CIRCULAR not CABLED CAPELET
This capelet is made by knitting sideways and short- rowing . It looks like it has a cabled edge but there are no crossed stitches.
This capelet is made by just as the yokes of the other circular logic sweaters are knitted. The faux cable is knitted after the main knitting.
SIZES: finished bust/chest: 38, 40, 42, 45,48,50” Since the capelet does not actually encircle the bust in the way that a sweater does, the sizes are quite forgiving. Just use them as a guideline
YARN, GAUGE AND MACHINE:
For the bulky version, use any worsted weight yarn that gets a gauge of 4 stitches/6 rows per inch at about stitch size 5 on the bulky. Most mid-gauge ma-chines can match the gauge. Bonds try key-plate 3. Any machine that can match the gauge will work fine. No ribber is required and hobby machines are suitable. For a standard gauge capelet, choose a soft yarn that can get a gauge of 7 stitches/10 rows per inch on the standard gauge machine. Tamm Astracryl 3 ply is always a good choice. Also required is one skein of furry yarn. For the sample, we used Tamm Nordic as the main yarn and Lion Fun fur as the fur yarn. 1 cone is enough Nordic. This kind of knit-weaving does not work on Passaps. To knit a simi- lar capelet on the Passap, knit the shape given, using the standard gauge numbers. After completing the capelet, add a fur edge using the alternate method given be- low. Nordic is a little thinner than the yarns normally designated “worsted” that get this gauge. If you choose to use it, simply adjust the stitch dial to match the gauge, even though it seems a little loose. This works fine since the capelet is intended to drape softly. Other worsted weight yarns will also work nicely but may change the hand of the fabric somewhat
