CITRINE hat
THIS PATTERN IS LAUNCHING THIS WEEKEND!
The CITRINE hat puts a twist on the classic ribbed hat. An understated play of textures, created by carefully combining different stitch patterns, makes for a fun yet elegant look. The tiny cables peeking out from beneath the folded brim are the sweetest eye catcher!
CONSTRUCTION
This hat is worked in the round from the brim up and shaped using decreases. Depending on your desired look and finish, you can adjust the length of the brim and pick from a varied range of yarns and yarn combinations. Half-twisted rib is rather stretchy and tends to loosen up, so I recommend choosing a size with about 10 - 15% negative ease.
KNITTING LEVEL
Advanced beginner to intermediate. The pattern includes step-by-step instructions, explains the used techniques and includes links to video tutorials.
TECHNIQUES:
Half-twisted rib, RS decreases (K2tog, P2tog, CDD), slipping stitches (S1PYB, S1PYF), German short rows (GSR), Italian cast-on (ICO), cable 4 back (C4B), grafting.

NEEDLES AND NOTIONS
Use the necessary needle sizes to get the given gauge.
You’ll need a 40 cm (16”) circular needle and a DPN set or shorties. I used 3.5 mm (US 4) needles.
Cable needle, 7 stitch markers, 1 unique stitch marker for EOR, a few removable stitch markers to track the work, stitch holder for trying on, tapestry needle, measuring tape
Disclaimer: due to a mistake in the first pattern draft, which has since been corrected, some of my testers worked cables with 6-R instead of 4-R repetitions, which caused their hats to be slightly longer than intended.
