This Aran/Bulky weight shawl features three-dimensional scalloped edging intended to resemble citrus slices. Worked from the bottom up, it begins with a long edging strip, then is shaped in stockinette via short rows. The top edge is finished with a wrong-side i-cord bind off.

Approximate finished dimensions:
Depth at center: 15.5” (39.5cm)
Edging depth: 3.5” (9cm)
Width at top edge: 37” (94cm)
Width at bottom edge: 65” (165cm)

Important: You will need to choose a yarn that was intended to make a gauge of about 14 sts per 4” (10cm), using size 10 – 10.5 (6.00 – 6.50mm) needles – check the yarn ball band! If your yarn is too thin, the edging slices won’t hold their shape properly.

Materials:

  • Aran/Bulky weight yarn, about 350 – 400 yards
  • TWO size US 7 (4.00mm) long circular needles (I used two 40” long circulars)
  • size US 8 (5.00mm) long circular needles – for the stockinette & i-cord portions
  • 28 stitch markers

Stitches & Techniques:
K, P, YO, ssk, P2tog, K2tog, plus specialty stitches (instructions given)
