When rain falls on the city at night, the streets glitter and glow. Everyday lights for traffic and shops become a symphony of colour, reflecting on wet pavement and bringing the city to life. The City Lights fingerless mitts capture this effect in a sharp colourwork combination of tonal and variegated yarn.

Sizes

There are three sizes available in pattern: 1 (18cm / 7” hand circumference); 2 (20cm / 8” hand circumference); and 3 (22.5cm / 9” hand circumference). You can find your size by measuring around your hand just below your fingers (not including your thumb), and choosing the size closest to your measurements.

Make sure to double check your gauge with the colourwork chart, as some knitters have a tighter gauge when knitting stranded colourwork.

Yarn and Yardage

The sample was knit with Yarn Ink Classic Sock (75% SW merino, 25% nylon, 462 yards/100g) in Ink (C1) and fck off (C2). Approximately 125 - 170 yards total are needed for this pattern: 100 - 135 yards for C1 and 25 - 35 yards for C2.

Notions

Knitting needles (DPN’s or circulars), darning needle, and stitch markers.

Techniques

The fingerless gloves are knit in the round from the cuff up with a thumb gusset. The colourwork is knit using stranded colourwork tehcniques, and has charted and written instructions. This pattern is recommended for knitters who are familiar with fingerless glove construction, and are comfortable with stranded knitting colourwork techniques.
