May I introduce the very first Purl &Jane top down jumper. As with all my designs it is a simple, easy to follow pattern, the perfect one to start your top down journey with.
This was such fun to design. I reversed engineered a raglan jumper in pieces, which meant there were moments when my head was having moments where it felt like it was about to explode! But as I said it was such fun to design and knit. The best thing about top down is that you can knit the garment to your perfect length or until you use up all the yarn whatever happens first! There are four versions of this jumper in the pattern, cropped and solid, cropped and striped, long and solid and long and striped. There is a technique with the stripes to eliminate the wriggle (best word I can think of to describe it!) on the purl rounds which might seem strange when you first do it but does look good.

For this pattern I used:
YARN & AMOUNTS
5(6:6:6:7) 50g balls of Mohair Tweed (70% merino/30% mohair, 110m/120yds per 50g) for short version.

4(4:5:5:6) 50g balls of Mohair Tweed (70% merino/30% mohair, 110m/120yds per 50g) in shade A & 2(2:3:3:3) 50g balls in shade B for long striped version

NEEDLES
4mm circular needles.
:: 40cm and 80cm lengths for the first three sizes.
:: 40cm and 100cm lengths for the last two sizes.

GAUGE (TENSION)
19 stitches and 28 rows to 10cm/4ins square over stocking stitch using 4mm needles.
