This beanie uses mosaic crochet to create the branching pattern inspired by the diagrams representing phylogenetic trees. Make one to celebrate Darwin Day (February 12)!

Lace or light fingering weight yarn in at least two colors:

one main background color (170 yd)
alternate color (220 yd total):

  1. brim color (80 yd)
  2. pattern color (140 yd total) four colors of 35 yd each in sample
