You can easily customize this shawl by working more pattern repeats and you can make it in any yarn weight - just play with the instructions to create your own beautiful Clamshell Shawl! I’m sure once you start, you will get into a rhythm, and the written pattern will lead you all the way to the finish line.
The pattern uses US crochet terminology and contains full written instruction and stitch chart.
Materials & Tools:
1. Yarn Requirements: These are just approximations. Fingering weight yarn in 4 colors:
C1 – 56g/278yds/255m,
C2 – 62g/309yds/283m,
C3 – 68g/339yds/310m,
C4 – 73g/364yds/333m.
Suggested Yarn: Scheepjes Whirlette 100g = 455m, (60% Cotton and 40% Acryl)
- Hook size 3.5mm. Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
- Tapestry needle (to weave and hide yarn ends).
- Scissors.
- Stitch marker.
Level: Intermediate.
Size after blocking:
Wingspan - 178cm/70”,
Center depth - 76cm/30”.
Gauge after blocking:
After Row 15 the triangle is approx. 10cm/4” high.
Gauge is not crucial for this project. However, changes might result in a different yardage requirements and the finished size.
