Clarette Blouse
This boat-neck blouse is worked seamlessly from the top down with a circular yoke. The asymmetrical bottom of the sweater is shaped with short rows and features welts, meant to look like gathers. A button tab “holds” the gathers in place. A pretty lace panel, knitted in a lighter-weight yarn and an easy, one-row pattern, peaks out from under the sweater body’s gathers. The three-quarter sleeves end in garter stitch trim.
Fitting tips are scattered throughout the pattern. Please read through the whole thing before starting, making notes on any section you’d like to alter. Length, bust darts, hip flare, and sleeve length are all customizable. You can (and should!) try the sweater on as you’re making it to check for fit. No one wants to make a sweater that just sits in a closet.
Skills needed: Knitting in the round, invisible increases, knitting lace, short rows, making welts (this is described in the pattern), sewing the lace panel to the sweater.
