The Clarion has the distinction of being a Wild River. It transects the remote Allegheny Highlands of Pennsylvania where towering White Pines provide a backdrop for soaring eagles, while playful otters and scampering mink share the river with kayakers and fishermen. Beautiful as it is, the Clarion is neither long nor wide. It’s pools, holes and ripples offer interest as well as beauty. It is these same features that inspired me as I created this shawl. With gorgeous yarn as a backdrop, the shawl, at 66 x 22”, is neither overly long nor wide. With peek-a-boo lace eyelets, elongated stitches, and runs of garter stitch, there is constant interest, both to the eye as well as to the knitter. Never is it so challenging as to create difficulty, but neither is it ever boring!
This is a one skein project, made with chunky yarn and knit on large needles, suitable for novice knitter and for affordable gift-giving!
