Classic Colonial
Classic Colonial is the fifth pattern in my New England Village eBook.
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner
Colonial houses have a restrained yet stately appearance and were first built in America by the colonists who settled in New England around the 1600’s. They typically include two or three stories stacked directly on top of each other which made them easier to heat in the winter. The pattern has two options for chimney placement—a single central chimney or a pair of chimneys (one at each end of the house). The cleaning cloth is worked in mosaic garter stitch, just one strand of color works every two rows. Gauge and dimensions are provided in a light worsted weight yarn. Choose colors that contrast well. Try your camera’s “black & white” setting to look at your yarns in grayscale and check the contrast between your selection(s). The pattern provides full written instructions with (optional) positive and negative charts for making useful household linens and gifts!
