Classic Colorwork Cowl
Seeing traditional-looking fair isle designs everywhere this winter made me want something of my own with the kind of classic colorwork motifs that almost border on cheesy, but are still cute: snowflakes, hearts, and the most perfect reindeer. (Though some people insist that they’re moose.)
This neckwarmer is a relatively fast and simple knit and, with no shaping to worry about, may be a good choice for someone wanting to try stranded knitting for the first time. A slightly fancier-than-normal rib pattern adds a touch of detail but doesn’t distract from the colorwork focus. This pattern includes charted and written instructions for the rib pattern and a full color chart for the stranded design.
Yardage estimate is based on needing a maximum of 200 yards of fingering weight yarn each for four different colors. This will be more than you need; this would be a good use for leftovers and partials balls.
(Disclaimer: Although it is very straightforward, this pattern has not been test-knitted. If you find any problems or mistakes, pretty please let me know!)
