When I came across a handful of blue suede buttons for sale at my favorite used bookstore, I knew that I couldn’t pass them up. I built the design for these gloves around those buttons, featuring them at the end of a seed stitch strap and against contrasting yarn.

Since then, I’ve had a blast pairing vibrant colors with unusual buttons: faux pearls, satin cast-offs from formal wear, gold-flecked vintage buttons. Because the pattern is simple and slightly addictive, you could easily make a slew of these for Christmas or birthday gifts without ever repeating yourself.
