’Classic Margaret’ is a tribute to my mentor, Margaret Taylor, a woman whose class level can never be matched. She started as my store manager and eventually became my mentor for my own managerial career. She handled business the same way she handled herself, with confidence, intelligence, grace and integrity. A true Classic.

The design offers classic details. A Center Double Decrease is used to create a seams down the center of the mitten and on the sides. It’s a simple, elegant construction and design that will never go out of style.

Update:
I have now Included instructions for a ‘Fancy Cuff.’ You now have the choice between regular ribbing and one where the Center Double Decrease seam starts from the beginning.

Sizes:
This pattern comes in 4 sizes that will fit up to the following hand circumferences.

• Size 1: Up to 7”
• Size 2: Up to 7.5”
• Size 3: Up to 8.25”
• Size 4: Up to 9”

Yarn Used

• For this pattern I used Land Cashmere Premium, which is technically a DK weight yarn (a light one), but the pattern will work best with a Sport weight yarn

• Each size requires the following yardage: 1 (2, 3, 4) / 205 (220, 235, 250) yards.

Needles:

• 2.75mm needles in your favourite method for knitting small circumferences: 40” cord for Magic Loop, DPN’s, 9” circulars

Gauge: 27 sts / 4” in Stockinette in the Round, Blocked
