With this supplemental pattern you’ll be able to customize our Classic Bunny or Classic Teddy Bear with a patchwork body section. Both little girls and boys love this design, who can resist a new patchwork friend?

This pattern is a supplement to both our Classic Bunny and Classic Teddy Bear patterns. You must buy the Classic Bunny or Classic Teddy Bear pattern as well, as this pattern is just a variation given for the body section of these patterns.

For this supplemental pattern, you will need 4 different yarns. Yarns “A to D”. Try to use yarns of equal weight so your bear or bunny remains balanced. We like to use different colours of the same yarn so both the weights and the colours of the yarns match.

If you’re new to knitting stuffed friends, or are uncomfortable winging it without strict guidelines (that’s OK, sometimes we all need good directions to help us out) you will need approximately 22-27 m of each colour of medium weight yarn (adjust for the higher quantities for the yarns used to knit the head of the bear or bunny and the ears of the bunny). With this yarn, use 4 mm (US size 6) needles. You will also need a small amount of yarn for embroidering the face, stuffing (we use ecofil or wool) and a tapestry needle to sew your bunny or bear together. This will let you create a bunny or bear that’s approximately 19 cm (7.5 inches) in length.

The beauty of knitting stuffed friends is that this pattern can be knit in any size yarn with accompanying needles. Generally we find using a size or two smaller needles than required by the yarn allows for the tightness needed when you’re stuffing your finished product.
