With this supplemental pattern you’ll be able to customize our Classic Bunny or Classic Teddy Bear with a knitted star in the body section. Perfect for little boys and girls hooked on super hero’s or little girls and boys who want to wish upon a star, this pattern offers one more option to help make your bear or bunny uniquely yours.

This pattern is a supplement to both our Classic Bunny and Classic Teddy Bear patterns. You must buy the Classic Bunny or Classic Teddy Bear pattern as well, as this pattern is just a variation given for the body section of these patterns.

For this supplemental pattern, you will need 2 different yarns. Yarn “A” is the yarn you are using for most of the bunny or bear. Yarn “B” is the yarn you are using for the star section. Make sure that yarn “B” is different enough in colour that the star pattern stands out.

If you’re new to knitting stuffed friends, or are uncomfortable winging it without strict guidelines (that’s OK, we all need good directions sometimes to help us out) you will need approximately 85m of Medium weight yarn (one colour for the base and a second for the star and possible alternate coloured paws). With this yarn, use 4mm (US size 6) needles. You will also need a small amount of yarn for embroidering the face, stuffing (we use ecofil or wool) and a tapestry needle to sew your bunny or bear together. This will let you create a friend that’s approximately 19cm (7.5 inches) in length.

The beauty of knitting stuffed friends is that this pattern can be knit in any size yarn with accompanying needles. Generally we find using a size or two smaller needles than required by the yarn allows for the tightness needed when you’re stuffing your finished product.
