This is a great hat that is knit from bottom to top, in the round - no seams and no casting off. The youth and adult regular use one x 400 m ball of fingering/sock weight yarn, the adult large needs a second ball. What could be easier
I have knit it in several different fingering/sock weight yarns as well as a double strand of Drops Lace Alpaca. This is a great hat to let the yarn do the talking, hand dyes are perfect!I

The pattern has 3 sizes from youth (fits 18” to 21”) to adult regular (fits 21” to 23”) and adult large (fits 23” to 25”) Finish it off with your favourite pompom or tassels or leave it simple and classic.
If using lace weight yarns like Drops Lace Alpaca just hold 2 (2 x 50g balls) strands together to get a similar weight to fingering.
