Claude Monet - Poppy Fields
From book: This little painting of Monet’s wife, Camille, and son, Jean, walking through a field of poppies was created in in 1873 and shown at the first Impressionist exhibition the following year. Camille and Jean appear twice in the painting, this detail drawing the eye to the hillside of bright red poppies.
The design has been worked around the sweater, including the raglan sleeves. The green background is in a pure wool tweed which gives a feeling of texture and tone without changing yarns. The poppies are worked in two shades of red, in knitting and embroidery, to give an illusion of depth.
