Clèmens is a relaxed fit, three-quarter sleeve kimono cardigan that creates a cocoon of warmth. The top-down seamless construction with invisible pockets makes Clèmens an interesting knit. Knitted in a single strand of Höner och Eir Nutiden, ​th​is minimalist cardigan is light and airy, hence suitable for all seasons.

The cardigan is worked seamlessly in one piece from the top down, beginning with an invisible cast-on at the upper back. The back is then worked back and forth using German short rows, until the last row is worked all the way across from one sleeve edge to the other, then knit evenly across the back until the underarm level. The fronts are worked simultaneously in the same manner to the underarm. The fronts and back are then joined together, leaving under-sleeve stitches aside. Underarm gussets are worked and tapered into the body. Side decreases continues along the lower body while pockets are worked. The under-sleeve stitches are woven together using Kitchener stitch.

Suggested ease: + 9.5 to 14.5” / 24 to 37 cm. Sample shown in size S with 11” / 28 cm positive ease.

Höner och Eir Nutiden
(100% Swedish wool, single ply pre-yarn). Yarn is held single throughout the pattern.

One US 4 / 3.5 mm circular needle, 40” / 100 cm long or longer
One US 6 / 4 mm circular needle, 40” / 100 cm long or longer

Gauge

17.5 sts and 25 rows = 4” / 10 cm in St st with size US 6 / 4 mm needle, after blocking.

Lockable stitch markers, stitch markers, stitch holders, waste yarn, 1 button of 7/8 inch (23 mm) diameter, tapestry needle.
Note: If you are using Nutiden pre-yarn, you will also need about 89” / 226 cm long (or longer) DK weight yarn with a colorway similar to MC for grafting.
