Cleopatra's choice
15% off with coupon code “Cleo15” until Sunday 12th of August, midnight (European time).
This design features the ‘Caesar’s Check’ slip stitch pattern as a distinctive element which is used on hem, cuffs and neck edging.
The bottom-up pattern version comes along as a collection of 2 x 3 ‘building blocks’ with alternatives for the following elements:
- Part 1: Split hem with corners vs. hem which is knitted in the round.
- Part 2: Lower body in main color and Stockinette only vs. Stockinette/ Reverse Stockinette blocks, with dividing lines in contrast color between them (2nd option is recommended in case of a yarn which has bias).
- Part 3: Short Dolman sleeves which are knitted at the same time as the upper body vs. 3/4 sleeves which are joined to the body at the underarms.
My ‘Cleo’ shirt sample in ‘Nepal’ yarn combines the 3 choices listed first, while my ‘Cleopatra’ tunic sample includes the other 3. But you are free to combine 3 building blocks (for bottom, middle, top) just as you like.
As a bonus, the pattern includes a second document in which the Cleopatra tunic is described as top-down version.
Skill level: *** (3 out of 5)
Yarn requirements:
- Shirt version with short sleeves (‘Cleo’): 800/ 900/ 1000/ 1100/ 1200 m of the MC, approx. 50-100m of the contrast color for the edges (CC1) and 100-150m of contrast color for the Caesar stripes (CC2).
- Tunic version with 3/4 sleeves (‘Cleopatra’): 1000/ 1100/ 1200/ 1300/ 1400 m of MC, approx. 80-120m of CC1 and 140-180m of CC2.
Bust width for the sizes:
(S/ M/ L/ XL/ XXX)
82/ 92/ 102/ 112/ 122cm.
The piece features an A line shape (with a little bit of waist for the Cleo shirt version) and is intended to be worn with just a little bit of ease.
ERRATA:
On page 13 (page 14 for the German version), the given stitch numbers for row 2 are wrong, should be 62 sts for back, 66 sts for sleeve and 70 sts for front, but they are not necessary anyway:
Row 2:(CC1): repeat (SM, k to CCM) 4x.
