Pay What You Choose: In the interest of making my patterns financially accessible to all knitters while still honouring the time and work that went into creating them, I’m including ‘Pay What You Choose’ tiered pricing for my patterns. You may notice an increase in the baseline price; that is because I believe it represents a fair amount of compensation for my time and craft. If you can afford the full price, I am glad; if you cannot, please choose a price you are willing to pay, no questions asked. Tiered pricing works on the honour system and I will never know your financial ability, but I would very much like designing knitting patterns to be sustainable for me. Here is a list of the coupon codes and the discounts they represent:
No Code: $8.00 CAD
Orchestra: 10% off
BoxSeats: 20% off
Mezzanine: 30% off
This sassy, bouncy, spiral hat is knit flat, sideways, and on the bias and kitchener stitched together. It is totally reversible, and I recommend knitting it in long gradient yarns, pulling from either end of the same ball or using contrasting gradients. It is worked in small, 20-row sections and is therefore customizable to any size. And there are only four ends to weave in!
To knit this hat, you will need:
1 ball Kauni Wool 8/2 Effektgarn (I used approximately 300 meters/328 yards to make this hat, drawing from opposite ends so that the gradients ran into each other)
3 mm circular needles (between size 2 and 3 US)
1 stitch marker
crochet hook for provisional cast on
tapestry needle for kitchener stitch, and to weave in ends
Gauge:
24 stitches = 10 cm/4 inches in stockinette stitch
10 rows = 3.2 cm/1 ¼ inches in garter stitch (this is the hat band, so measure this section to fit your head)
Required Skills:
knit, purl, left- and right-leaning decreases in both knit and purl, increases (knitter’s choice), provisional cast on, kitchener stitch
Notes:
Most of the required skills are written into the instructions, with the exception of provisional cast on.

The sample hat was made by knitting from opposite ends of the same yarn ball so that the gradients ran into each other.
