Once again we visit The Sound of Music, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s
last work together. The story of the von Trapp family was not only an
award winning Broadway hit, but also an Oscar winning film. It probably contains more hit songs than any other Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, likely because of the success of the film, which was the most financially successful film adaptation of a Broadway musical ever made. It contained many memorable songs, including Climb Ev’ry Mountain. The basic mitered square, when turned at an angle just screams mountains to me. This technique was developed in crochet form from its knitting counterpart by designer Jenny King. I am proud to say I was taught this technique by Jenny herself.
