Shamelessly vintage in it’s inspiration, Cloche To The Top is a close fitting hat with a little brim. Turn the brim up just above one eye and secure with a pretty broach or a sparkly button for a fetching look. The brim is knit separately, then stitches are picked up along its edge and the band and crown of hat knit in the round.

The brim of Cloche To The Top is worked sideways on small needles to ensure it keeps some structure. It’s lots of little rows, I do advise having some good telly to watch or interesting radio to listen to to help keep you ticking along. After the brim, things get quicker - the work is then joined in the round, the textured stitch used in the band is very easy to work and then plain old stocking stitch is all you need to worry about till the end. Using much less than a skein of yarn, you should be able to make coordinating mitts out of the remainder of a skein.
