A cosy hat with fluffy-lined ear flaps to keep the cold out. The Cloud Hat is finished with a large pompom.

The hat is knit using simple knit and purl stitches with a garter stitch brim and ear flaps. The main part of the hat is knit in stocking stitch. There are decreases at the crown. Five individual components need to be knit first: the right back brim, the right earflap, the centre brim, the left earflap and the left back brim. These five pieces are then joined to form a single piece of knitting that forms the main section of the hat. The main part of the hat is then knit, the back seam is sewn up and ends are sewn in. The fluffy lining is sewn to the ear flaps and finally pompom cords and pompoms are added to complete the hat.

Recommended Patterns:
Wear the hat with a pair of Cloud Mittens in soft fluffy wool or a Cloud Scarf with over-sized pompom.

Other Materials Required:

  • darning needle to sew seams
