ABOUT PATTERN

The CLOUD SWEATER JUNIOR is a basic children’s sweater with a round yoke. The sweater is knit “top-down” with 20 cm (8 in) of ease in the yoke and body for a comfortable fit. Optionally, you can add a charming ruffle that elegantly outlines the yoke, creating a festive look perfect for special occasions.

CONSTRUCTION

The CLOUD SWEATER JUNIOR is worked from the top down and has a circular yoke. First the neck edge is worked, then the yoke is worked in the round. The increases in the yoke are done using Make 1 Left (M1L) methods. Short rows are worked after the yoke to raise the back and create a nice fit. After the yoke, the body and sleeves are separated with casting on stitches for underarms.
The body and sleeves are worked in the round in stockinette stitch and finished with a rib edge.
As the sweater is knitted top-down, you can decide on the length as you go.
The ruffle is optional. The ruffle is knit in the round on stitches picked up from a foundation round, and increased to give this knit that playful, frilly look.

The pattern includes 13 sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4) (5, 6, 7) (8, 9, 10) (11, 12, 13) with a finished chest circumference of 72 (76, 78, 80) (82, 84, 86) (88, 93, 96) (99, 102, 105) cm 28 ¼ (30, 30 ¾, 31 ½) (32 ¼, 33, 33 ¾) (34 ¾, 36 ½, 37 ¾) (39, 40 ¼, 41 ¼) in.
The intended ease is 20 cm (8 in).

Use the following two yarns held together:

DROPS AIR (65% alpaca, 7% wool, 28% polyamide, 150 m / 50 g or approximately 164 yd / 1.76 oz)
150 (150, 150, 200) (200, 200, 200) (250, 250, 250) (250, 300, 300) g

DROPS BRUSHED ALPACA SILK (77% alpaca, 23% silk, 140 m / 25 g or approximately 153 yd / 0.88 oz)
100 (100, 100, 125) (125, 125, 125) (150, 150, 150) (150, 175, 175) g

GAUGE
15 sts / 20 rows = 10 cm (4 in) in stockinette stitch in the round using size B needles after blocking.

NEEDLES
Sizes are provided as a guide; use the needle size needed to achieve the correct gauge.

Size A (European: 3.5 mm / US: 4)
For neckline – double-pointed needles or 80 cm (32 in) circular needle for magic loop

Size B (European: 6.0 mm / US: 10)
For yoke and body – 60 cm (24 in) or longer circular needle
For sleeves – double-pointed needles or 80 cm (32 in) circular needle for magic loop

Size C (European: 4.5 mm / US: 7)
