To us a cloudburst seems so simple and appears as a sudden burst of rain for a short period of time in a small area. But, for this to happen within a cloud there are numerous forces that have to occur at the same time including, temperature change, upward air currents, water getting heavier, powerful intermolecular forces of water and a change of energy inside the cloud.

The Cloudburst scarf is crocheted from side to side with an easy stitch pattern for the first section, then a stitch pattern “burst” in the middle of the scarf where the stitch pattern and the row direction angle changes, and then back to the easy stitch pattern for the remainder of the scarf.

The mesh rows are an easy two-row repeat before and after the middle diamond section. This middle diamond adds a distinctive point to the triangular shape of the scarf.

Cloudburst is a simple, one skein scarf using a skein of fingering or sock weight yarn of at least 420 yards. I chose the gorgeous Malabrigo Mechita yarn in the color “Poipu”.

Find your favorite color and enjoy an easy, very wearable, one-skein project with a fun stitch pattern “burst” in the middle of the scarf to keep it interesting!
