Cloudy the Bat
Did you know that a group of bats in flight is called a cloud? Neither did I! Knit one or a bunch for someone special.
It is not necessary to knit a sample - gauge doesn’t matter. Just make sure your stitches are tight enough that your stuffing doesn’t show.
Doesn’t take much yarn to knit this little guy. I used Simply Soft Party in silver, but any worsted or aran weight will do!
Errata: bat is knitted head-down, not body-down. I am updating the pattern to reflect this. I am also updating the legs with proper crochet terms. Will post when complete.
Crochet instructions for legs from user shazray :
Ch10, slst in 3rd ch from hook, ch2, slst in same st as previous slst, ch7, slst in 3rd ch from hook, ch 2, slst in same ch as previous slst, ch 7.
Sorry I haven’t gotten around to editing the pattern!
And yes, you may sell any bats you make using this pattern - thank you to Dippydocus for asking!
Lastly, user gcoombs77 said her ears were coming out huge, so I wanted to include her note: “Pattern note - My ears are coming out huge. I think 3 reps total of rows 2 &3 might be enough. This makes row 12 actually row 8. I am using size 4s, worsted weight, so that might be part of it, but the rest seems to have knit up just fine!”
Perhaps this year (2023) I’ll get around to making another and then redo the entire pattern taking into account all of this input. Thank you for everyone who has downloaded and made one. It’s joyful to hear he’s brought so much fun to so many people!
