Cloudy with a Chance of Rainbows
As the Northern Hemisphere enters the darkest days of the year our thoughts turn to comfort. Warm blankets, cozy fires, comfort food, soft surfaces. Many of us begin to crave color, as well. This hat combines the comfort and softness of super-squishy yarn held double with mohair and a subdued rainbow to boost the spirit. Wear it whenever you feel the need for a little extra cozy.
Base yarn is held double throughout the hat to create a DK weight. You may substitute DK for fingering weight if you do not want to hold three strands together as the base yarn is also held with a strand of mohair. The mohair is carried through all colors while the base colors (again, held double) changes in each stripe.
This hat is written to be worn with the ribbing folded up for extra warmth. If you would rather not have double thickness on the ears or prefer a more standard length, decrease length of MC knit between ribbing and stripes as indicated.
