Coast and Castles MKAL
Inspiration
It is almost impossible to live in or near Conwy and not be inspired by the amazing views and feel of the place.
Ewe Felty Thing has wanted to open in Conwy for around 5 years, and are so excited to now be able to call it our home! This MKAL is inspired by the nature of this beautiful area - and is focused on the two main aspects - Coast and Castles.
How it works
MKAL stands for Mystery Knit Along. This means that when you are knitting, you never know what the next section will look like, and the finished look of the project won’t be revealed until the end.
This project will be a blanket consisting of 63 different squares, each measuring 10”/25.5cm once blocked. This will give you a final blanket of around 70 x 90” or approximately 180cm x 230cm. As such, this blanket will be large enough to lay over a king-size bed, a large sofa, or to cocoon yourself and others in. You can, however, choose to make your blanket smaller by using fewer squares.
These squares will each be released in turn, with 3 included in the original pattern release, and then 6 added each month for 10 months from February until November, allowing you to have completed your blanket in time for December.
Materials
This blanket uses around 2.5kg of yarn in 6 colours.
Each square uses around 40g/90m of double knit (DK) yarn, though this varies depending on the stitch pattern used.
To ensure equal use of all six colours throughout your blanket, this means around 4-5 x 100g balls of each colour.
The yarn used in the design is West Yorkshire Spinners Croft DK in colours
010 - Langa
690 - Burnside
1019 - Challister
1021 - Tangwick
1153 - Sampfrey

However any wool-based (blockable) yarn that achieves gauge can be used.
