This is a fairly simple pattern. The yarn itself is so color-lively that I opted for stockinette with left and right cables interspersed to provide interest. The cardigan could easily be knit without the cables. I also chose two different colors for the buttons to go along with the color theme.

I do strongly advise people to check the gauge. I knit large, so I always have to go down a needle size to make the gauge for patterns. Rather than guess how you knit, I kept the needle sizes I used. So, if you knit to spec, then you are likely to need to go UP a size with the needles. If you generally have to go down a size, the pattern should be perfect for you.
